Inspiration

Like all fields…

Inspiration

Fluctuates

The movement begins even before birth
Though we were separate by then

The neural pathways well laid, apart
It’s a design feature to be ready early

Some more than others

First movement
Then memory
Then the long social climb
Lord knows

Separation after separation
Still modest in numbers

Compared to some
There are just billions of us now

Low single digits
It’s good to check

Consider arbuscular
Mycorrhizal fungi

Consider
Our past recedes logarithmically

It becomes clear
The occasional distant cousins
Are more closely shared

Chances are

There was
Incest now and then

We’re closer
Than we think

Consider the millions of us driving
The brain, a skilled prediction machine
And what lies beyond
The stories we tell ourselves

The fewer and fewer
Of us
There are

Yet still
Delightfully
Frighteningly

We’re the same

Lines Cast From The Shadows

Lines Cast in Shadow

These are the castoffs

Somewhere in the interior of an awareness

Seen, viewed, taken
Whether in the city or elsewhere

Visual surfaces enfold into something deeper
A mosaic of shifting connections

The blurring of light and shadow
In constant motion

Left here
To drift
For a time

To Be Seen or Not To Be

To Be Seen Or Not To Be

Is this the journey’s end
To be seen or not to be
Whether in the frame or behind the lens

A vainglorious weaving
Symphonies written in secret
Near-random scattering of moments obsessively ensnared

Self-absorbed

Sensory entanglement in the strewing of leaves
Force, harmony, dissonance and beauty
Winter etchings and narrow palimpsests

In these narrow, ill-fitted sleeves
Could any moment
Experienced
Remain?

It makes You Want to Sleep

It Makes You Want To Sleep

Sight, sense, vision
and feeling
shatter

With a shake of the camera
A long exposure and the flick of a wrist
Becoming

An existential abstraction
A Dance Macabre
An iPhone’s neural engine catching mural and dancer
In mid-collapse
A surreal dance

What do you tink happens in the real world
in medias res, man

Sartre writes
“Everything in your mind is a fake”

Estelle laments
“It makes you want to sleep”

No Exit

Just a another footnote

Sunsets on the Sound

Sunsets on the Sound

Here are the connections of vision, place and time

The surfaces of water, wind, air
Movement

Light
If not also sound
What is whispered, measured
In speech

“The sun dropping to the water”
“Sky, Earth, Wind, Clouds, Rain”

The weather shouldering itself into the landscape, unassisted
Pushing into the trees, through the grass
Across continents and seas

Despite it all
Mass, temperature, s
pin

Stars in the void

A voice in the wind

One current shapes it all

Memories of a Moment Long Past

Memories of a Moment Long Past

The swirling water and clouds of the Earth are memories of a moment long past, its infinite explosive certainty still emerging—movement its primary nature. We can only hope to measure it in fragments as it extends universally—distance, time, placement, speed.

Movement shapes even the clear-sighted photos here. Those created using intentional camera movement, in which light flows freely, and solids become liquid, the iPhone’s neural engine revealing a hidden, rhythmic, shattering pulse that joins all natural and engineered landscapes into symphonies of motion, color and graphic abstraction.

Trapped remnants. Aggressive reconstructions. Restless to escape the synapses of viewers—human and AI. Movement is more elemental. It’s without a story.
